To my Yuletide writer:

Thank you so much for writing for me! I'm very excited. This is my first time participating in Yuletide; I've checked it out in the past and the fandoms available never really interested me. But as always I checked the nominations this year, and every single show I currently watch and/or have loved forever was on the list. Who could pass up an opportunity like that?

You see, I love cop shows. LOVE THEM. Love the glimpses into the characters that we get around the weekly storylines, love the way what happens on a case impacts them, love the small moments and continuity and full lives they lead in the background of the show. While most of the public attention is paid to the guest stars, I always watch the characters, especially the supporting ones. Unfortunately, I've friends-locked my journal so you can't really see the things I like, but I did unlock a couple of entries, most especially this explanation of my favorite show archetype, the Asshole. Since 3 of my 4 story requests include an Asshole, it might help you to know how I see him. He's GREAT! Hee!

Anyways, when it comes to the story itself, I don't have a lot of preferences: I like angsty, melancholy, action, occasionally romance, even fluffyfic can work at times. I generally lean toward gen or het fic, mainly because I love these shows for what they present to us onscreen and most of the time they're straight pairings. None of the shows I listed this year have any gay couples, I don't think.

The one real 'please don't' request I have is about Third Watch's Bosco. I don't know if that's the suggestion that matches your offer, but if it is, I must tell you that Bosco is my most favorite character of all time. He's my woobie, my OTC, whatever you want to call it. I love that he's such a jerk, and he's such a soft touch sometimes, and he takes such a beating and yet he keeps going, always. And while I am completely fascinated by his relationship with Faith, I do not under any circumstances read it as romantic. If you're a Bosco/Faith shipper, I apologize but I just don't see it. I think their partnership is amazing as it is, and I would love to see that explored instead.

Of course, if you got the My Boys matchup, just have a ball with it! It's a light-hearted show full of characters who have a good time together. I grin the whole time we watch it. I am from Chicago so any local tidbits you drop into the story will be noticed and appreciated!

Hmm, you know, I'm not sure if I'm being too demanding or too obvious; part of me thinks, 'Hey, if you watch these shows enough to want to write them you probably already have the same kind of preferences I do about them," but then another part of me has been in fandom too long not to be wiser than that. So if I'm stating the obvious, my apologies. :)

Anyway, thank you VERY much for writing for me, and I can't wait to read it!
