Yuletide revealed!
Yay, the author names have been revealed for Yuletide! My, my, my, my friends are sneaky and excellent authors! Several of the stories I recced were written by you guys. :)
mandysbitch, congrats on The War At Home. LOVED it, and I for one am MOST appreciative that you got Stephanie out of her rut. If only Evanovich could do so!
And
therealjae wrote Sun of a New Season and 40 Miles North of Presidio AND Falling Quiet. Sneaky! I suppose I should have guessed you'd write FNL. Heh.
I was completely wrong about the authors of Strangers in a Strange Land (it felt like a
vaznetti crossover to me!) and We'll Take What We Can Carry, and We'll Leave The Rest (my guess was
hossgal), but brava to the real authors, hyperfocused and luzdeestrellas, respectively.
And my very own gift, my beloved A Can of Beer and Thou, was written by Zortified, who I am astonished I didn't know before now. How can someone who knows Bosco that well have gone unnoticed by me before?
++++
My own story was a Rescue Me fic, Breaking the Ice, for
starlurker. I don't have much to say about the writing process for this, because it just popped out of me fully formed just when I least expected it. But if
starlurker is reading this, I want to say I actually TRIED to write the Luke/Noah story you wanted for ATWT, but it kept meandering and never took off into anything more than one brief scene. But I was so pleased and excited to have seen the prompt (I love ATWT, and it's hard to find people online who do), and I wish I could have fulfilled that one for you too.
Now it is time to wander off and see if some of my other friends wrote things in fandoms I am familiar with, so I can read and enjoy them.
jesshelga?
orangetip? Will I know your fandoms?

I am astonished that no one guessed that at least "Presidio" and "Falling Quiet" were by me. Let's see:
a) Friday Night Lights.
b) I talked about my theories about Tim several times in public. In fact, I essentially outlined the jist of "Presidio" back in my first long post about the show.
c) I didn't rec any of those stories.
d) There were multiple stories in the same universe. Come on. *g*
I followed your yuletide issues rather closely, so it's really fun to learn in retrospect which fandom you were trying and failing to write, and which one just worked. Even though I don't know either of them!

I know, it seems obvious NOW that it would have to have been you (reasons a and d especially *g*), but in truth, during Yuletide I just assume all of my friends are doing books or mythology or anime or one of the hundreds of fandoms that I have never heard of before seeing them on the request list. My flist typically has SUCH divergent interests than mine -- particularly with books, as I don't read romance or YA or sci-fi or fantasy -- that I am always shocked when one of my friends actually shares an interest with me. *g*
So I didn't see it right in front of my nose!

Heh. I would never have guessed that Rescue Me would have been the fandom where the story came to me so easily. I only started watching it last year!

Hee! Ironically, this is one thing we have in common. ;-)

As for Morelli... well, let me just say, I'm a *big* Morelli fan and the whole triangle thing gets up my nose (except for the decided lack of jealousy - which is actually funny) but my recipient, who didn't comment I notice, asked for "Lula/ Stephanie/ Ranger." Eeek! it took me ages trying to think of how to get rid of Morelli. Poor guy.
And yes, Lula and Tank are an item. Bloody hilarious. But if I'd read to the end of 13 I'd know Tank's name is *not* James. Heh.
Anyway, I worked my BUTT off on that story - so YOU ROCK for actually taking the time to read and rec it. THANK YOU!

"Lula/ Stephanie/ Ranger."
Eeek is right! That just...I can't picture it at all. I'm glad you didn't go there, honestly.
Now I have to get the last two books and get caught up! I flove Tank.
